Comprehensive Design Science
We do more with less.
Consulting · Design · Technology
In the late 1920s, inventor Buckminster Fuller developed the concept of "comprehensive design science" — the philosophy that has guided our work for over three decades. As comprehensive design scientists, we see the big picture, finding synergies that create cost savings in overhead and operations while improving productivity and sales.
Across architecture, industrial design, and systems engineering — from naturally beautiful buildings to waste-water treatment and solar energy — we deliver the highest quality of life using the fewest resources, maximizing every investment while preserving the free life-support services of Mothership Earth.
From concept to completion, we green your bottom line.

Interior Architecture
Problem
Two Trees Development set out to turn raw industrial loft floors on the DUMBO waterfront into creative offices that could attract design-driven tenants — and make the most of the neighborhood's economic incentives.
Solution
Interior architecture that kept the buildings' industrial character — exposed structure, deep daylight, and Brooklyn Bridge views — while carving flexible, efficient workspace for creative firms. Smart offices, enormous incentives: DUMBO.

Facade Engineering
Problem
Engineer a full-building facade for the Museum of Sex that could be erected without permanent construction and withstand Midtown Manhattan's urban wind loads.
Solution
An inflated fabric membrane spanning the entire building envelope, glowing from within at night — a structural feat that transformed the streetscape and made the opening a citywide event.
Industrial Design
Problem
Create an immersive environment that embodied Sony's technology as an organic, living experience.
Solution
A biomorphic sculptural interior in fiberglass and resin — part furniture, part architecture — with integrated video displays dissolving the boundary between object and space.
Renewable Infrastructure
Problem
Create a floating renewable-energy facility for New York's only marine science high school that could function as both infrastructure and living laboratory.
Solution
The Buoyant Assemblage of Renewable Geosensitive Ecostructure — a self-sustaining floating platform integrating renewable energy systems, water management, and marine research facilities on the Governors Island waterfront.
Hospitality
Scope
Interior architecture and design for the Clementine Restaurant at One Fifth Avenue, New York City.
Hospitality / Resort
Scope
Resort design and ecological site integration for a hospitality property in Negril, Jamaica.

Design — Value Engineering
Problem
Design a scalable retail display for Matrix/Biolage that could be deployed globally within a tight budget.
Solution
A value-engineered modular system requiring fewer materials, less labor, and less energy — delivered at one-sixth of the client's original cost estimate.
Design & Retail
Scope
Brand environment and retail design for the ENYCE apparel label, New York City.
Design & Branding
Problem
Establish visual identity and editorial design for an emerging multicultural publication in Seattle.
Solution
Bold, culturally engaged layout design that helped position Mavin as a nationally recognized magazine within its first year.
Residential Architecture
Historic Preservation
Problem
Restore a landmark 1898 Tudor residence while bringing it fully into contemporary use.
Solution
Comprehensive historic preservation — structural, mechanical, and landscape — honoring the original character while delivering modern performance.
Zero-Energy / Carbon Neutral
Problem
Design and construct a zero-energy, carbon-neutral residence on Great Gotts Island — a remote island off the Maine coast accessible only by boat, with no utility grid.
Solution
Full design and construction of a solar-powered structure with passive ventilation tuned to coastal wind patterns. Zero net energy, carbon neutral, and entirely self-sufficient — built without grid power or road access.
Design & Renovation
Problem
Redesign and renovate a Manhattan apartment to function as both a family home and a flexible creative workspace.
Solution
Full design and renovation — custom millwork, open-plan kitchen with floating lacquer cabinetry, and a material palette that balances warmth with precision.
Design & Renovation
Scope
Design and renovation of a row-house residence on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC.
Residential / Ecological
Scope
Residence and family compound on the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, designed for minimal ecological impact in a protected environment.
